Installation and Live Performance
Soundwave Biennial ((7)), Gray Area
Duration: 30 minutes
Created in collaboration with Sebastian Alvarez, Oscillations is a two-part project that explores perception, presence, and the boundaries of performance. Conceived initially as a live synesthetic event, it evolved into an installation where mechanical devices become the performers—inviting a meditation on the human body’s absence, and the uncanny textures of artificial experience.
For the installation, we relinquished our roles as performers and handed them over to machines. This shift began as a practical response to the static demands of a gallery space, but soon became central to our inquiry: How does affect travel without a body? What happens when control is surrendered to automation, yet intimacy remains?
In the live performance (Oscillations // LIVE), the audience is invited to close their eyes. The piece unfolds as a sonic and sensory ritual—a choreography of frequencies, pulses, and vibrations that guide each listener inward. It is a meditation on the self, experienced collectively, through sound and sensation alone.
Both versions challenge the hyper-saturation of contemporary urban life, asking what it means to feel—fully, viscerally—in a world that often numbs.
